This photo is from the first wedding I photographe This photo is from the first wedding I photographed professionally, and I’m still really proud of it. The bride was a friend of mine and I only charged $500. I spent everything I made on renting better equipment than I owned. I photographed for 16 hours straight, in the gorgeous Zion Nation Park, and I don’t regret it at all. Would you want a first look? First looks aren’t Would you want a first look? First looks aren’t for everyone and I’d never force one on a couple that truly desires to see each other for the first time at the ceremony, but there are definitely some benefits to a first look! Couples that do them always tell me that it takes away the jitters, and gives them a sense of calm before the ceremony. Additionally, it’s one of the only moments during the day just for the two of you. It also makes some great pictures! Worried your partner won’t cry at the ceremony if they see you during a first look? I wouldn’t worry about that. If they are going to cry, they are going to cry! Hi! I’m back. Did you miss me? Full transparency Hi! I’m back. Did you miss me? Full transparency: I lost all motivation to post on Instagram when the pandemic hit. All my 2020 weddings were cancelled or rescheduled and I felt like no one was looking for wedding photographers, so why would I post to a non-existent audience? Then Instagram changed the algorithm and started prioritizing reels. I understand how reels can be helpful for some businesses, but as a photographer I just want to post photos! Luckily, I heard Instagram likes still pictures again, so now is the time to come back!​​​​​​​​ ​​​​​​​​ Let me take a moment to reintroduce myself. My name is Maria and I’m a wedding photographer based in Portland, Oregon. I’ve documented hundreds of couples’ love stories over the past 11+ years, traveling all over the United States and beyond, and it has been one of the biggest honors of my life. I received my degree in photojournalism in 2010 and chose to pursue documenting love instead of local and world news events, but my background in photojournalism greatly guides how I approach my duty as a wedding photographer. I always strive to capture the day how it happened: the love, the laughter and the tears. I want you to look back at your wedding images for decades to come with joy and pride. I offer couples both years of experience as well as formal training in documentary style photography. ​​​​​​​​ ​​​​​​​​ I am here to serve all couples without discrimination.
